Joint Pain

  • A facet joint injection is a minimally invasive procedure where a mixture of a local anesthetic and corticosteroid is injected directly into one or more facet joints in the spine. These injections are often used to treat: low back or neck pain, facet joint syndrome, osteoarthritis of the spine, spondylosis, and whiplash.

  • An Epidural Steroid injection involves delivering corticosteroid (anti-inflammatory medication) and often local anesthetic into the epidural space around the spinal cord and nerve roots. The goal is to reduce inflammation and alleviate pain, especially in the lower back (lumbar spine),mid-back (thoracic spine), or neck (cervical spine).

These injections are used to treat conditions such as: pain in the neck radiating from the neck into the shoulders/arms, pain in the low back radiating down the legs (sciatica), spinal stenosis, herniated or bulging discs, and degenerative disc disease.

  • Sacroiliac(SI) joint injections are used for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. SIJ joint injections are used to assess and treat pain stemming from the SI joints, which connect the sacrum (the lowest part of the spine) to the iliac bones (the pelvis).

  • Joint injections are used to treat and reduce pain from osteoarthritis, gout, and bursitis as well as reduce inflammation. During joint injections, medication (often corticosteroid) is injected directly into the joint.

Treatments

Our non-invasive procedures are x-ray (fluoroscopy) or ultrasound guided for precision and safety. These procedures can take as little as 5-10 minutes and may be used to help prevent the need for larger invasive surgeries in the future!

  • A Radiofrequency ablation is a minimally invasive procedure used to relieve chronic pain typically in the neck, middle back, or lower back. This procedure uses a thermal technique to target and destroy the medial branch nerves that carry pain signals from the facet joints in the spine to the brain. This does not result in any weakness or loss of function. It is a great option for 6 months to several years of relief.

  • Platelet-Rich Plasma injection is a regenerative medical treatment that uses the patient's own blood to promote healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles, and joints.

  • Trigger Point injections are a common medical procedure used to treat painful muscle knots.
